The Host by Stephenie Meyer
1.0

While this book made a few interesting points about what defines us as humans and explored what could have been an interesting angle on the "body snatchers" sci-fi idea, Meyer just ruins it with her horrific writing. She spends pages describing events that hold no purpose other than to move a character from one place to another. Condense that kind of action into a paragraph or two, please. She's also fixated on tedious love triangles. In this case, I suppose it's more of a square. Two men in love with the same human body. One man loves the human soul; the other loves the alien soul parasite. Uh huh. Even if I thought this plot "twist" was remotely interesting, Meyer ruins it yet again by trying to make the reader believe that she's not going to end the book the way that she does. Gee, two souls trapped in one human body. One of those souls could live in a different body. How could she wrap up this story...eventually?
