"Marianne, he said, I'm not a religious person but I do sometimes think God made you for me."

I feel like this is the anti-hero of love stories. You have two incredibly flawed people who you feel so deeply for. This book was a Rollercoaster of emotions... I think I liked it. And by liked it, I mean I hated it but I cannot get it out of my mind. I think about it constantly. I wonder where Marianne and Connell would be right now? Would they be together? Normal People was an utterly lonely and depressing love story.

I didn't like the dynamic between Marianne and Connell. Both were riddled with flaws, angst, and lacked very basic communication skills. Their relationship frustrated me beyond word, but in the end that's what made it feel so real, and despite it all, I cared deeply for them.

Normal People was so awkward and depressing. It was the opposite of a love story, about two very different people who find exactly what they need within eachother at different points in their lives.
