I see that this book has a lot of negative criticism. But reading it for what it is, a YA pirate fantast with an overconfident, morally grey protag, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
This book has an interesting premise, a couple of plot twists, and contains some great tropes.
Enemies to lovers, only one bed, forced proximity.
I’ve been kind of obsessed with pirates and pirate lore for as long as I can remember. This book and it’s sequel scratched an itch I didn’t even know I had.
I think some of the mystery might have been a little bit telegraphed to me since I read this book immediately before the sequel. So the “big reveal” towards the end was revealed by the title of the next book.

No matter, I enjoyed it anyway!!
