My review of … The Secret History by Donna Tartt

I will admit I was a bit intimidated to read this book as the pages are whisper thin and there are 558 pages — but then as soon as I started reading the book all intimidation melted away and I was left with Tartt’s excruciatingly beautiful prose that was a pleasure to read.

This book is known to be the birth mother of Dark Academia and for good reason. I felt as if I was in the college. I felt I was in the classrooms. I learned alongside with the characters. The characters…they were intricate in their own ways and my heart hurts for them. Except Bunny. Hah.

I read this is 2-3 days and devoured it. I couldn’t put it down. I listened to chunks of the audiobook that was narrated by Donna Tartt herself and it was a delight.

Do yourself a favor and read this book. It’s not an easy read, but it is a gratifying one.
