Not even done with reading the beginning chapters of this book, and I was already in love with Breaker and Lia. Imagine the movies, “Maid of Honor” and “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, and that’s essentially what this story was about. Breaker and Lia had been best friends since college, and when I say best friends, I mean they were so close to one another that they lived right next door to each other. The friendship between Lia and Breaker was spot on and heartwarming right from the beginning. Even the way Lia and Breaker met for the first time in college was lighthearted and a bit funny. If you’ve read the previous books on Breaker’s brothers, wait until you read this book because, I’m pretty sure you’re going to love Breaker, I SURE AS HECK DID!

With the friends to lovers trope at the forefront of my mind while reading, I couldn’t get over the friendship aspect between Breaker and Lia, I loved it so much. As much as I love seeing friends to lovers trope in books, I felt like the way Meghan wrote Breaker and Lia’s friendship was entirely new and unique to the beloved trope that I had never read before. One of the many things I loved about Breaker and Lia was that for them, they had always just seen each other as friends and their friendship meant a lot to them. Obviously later on, Breaker and Lia become more than friends, but early on it was clear just how much time they spent together and they liked the same things. Even the way they casually planned out nights to play games or watch documentaries spoke to the level of comfort and ease they shared with one another that I found to be so sweet. Lia was the one person aside from his family that he could depend on, and always have his back. I might be overstepping, but… honestly I feel like this was one, if not THE BEST friends to lovers story I’ve ever read.

Man this book had me laughing and cackling at the stuff that went down with Lia and Breaker. Without any spoilers just know that Meghan didn’t disappoint with this book and please do yourself a favor and if you can get the illustrated version because not only will it enhance your experience of reading the story but you’ll get to see some of the chaos that ensued in this book and OF COURSE SOME DELICIOUS SPICY SCENES! One of the many things I love about Meghan Quinn and her books is the humor she imbues in the characters and the storyline. I couldn’t get enough of it, and safe to say, I was giggling and fully content while reading.

The moment when Breaker realized he was in love with Lia was like a light bulb went off in his head, and thank goodness for that realization. Even though the beginning focused on the friendship between Lia and Breaker, it was clear as day how close those two were. From their inside jokes, special nicknames, and traditions of playing different board games, anyone could see that Breaker and Lia had undeniable chemistry, even when they insisted they were just best friends. I think one of my favorite moments was when Breaker had his epiphany of him being in love with Lia. When Breaker saw Lia in her wedding dress, that was a sweet moment especially with they way he was speechless when seeing her. The way Breaker was with Lia was absolutely loving from always having her back to complimenting her in the most beautiful ways, I was swooning and equally wishing I could have Breaker for myself.

IT’S OFFICIAL! BREAKER CANE IS THE MAN! THE ONE AND ONLY MAN WHO IS FANTASTIC AND MY GOODNESS I LOVE HIM! At first glance, Breaker seemed just like the sweet and nice guy, but… OH MY GOODNESS! HOW DID I NOT SEE HIM BEING A DIRTY TALKER AND MORE AHHH YESSSS! Yeah Breaker was confident in and out of the bedroom and Lia was gladly enjoying herself. Spice was immaculate as always per Meghan’s writing, and she yet again raised my expectations. Even with the spice, I also loved the devotion and commitment that Breaker showed towards Lia. I mean, the way he planned out their first date was not only sweet, but well thought out considering he remembered things Lia had said when they were in college. Breaker loved to spoil Lia and she rightly deserved it. I was all smiles and happy seeing Lia and Breaker being all lovey dovey and passionate with each other. Lia and Breaker finally got their chance to be together and I was enjoying every single second of it!

This truly was a long time coming indeed. Breaker and Lia’s friendship over the course of many years was heartfelt and touching. To see Breaker finally take the initiative to go after Lia in a more romantic way was all kinds of fun and of course a long time coming haha. Lia and Breaker had the best foundation of friendship to build upon the romantic relationship and even when they got together officially, their friendship was still very much present. I loved seeing how close Lia and Breaker were from their love of board games, knowing the most intimate and detail oriented things about one another, it’s shocking to me that they didn’t up end together sooner. Seeing some familiar faces such as, Huxley, Lottie, Kelsey, JP, Myla, Ryot, and Banner added to the fun, and I loved seeing the close friendships between everyone. Everything about this book was phenomenal and again if you can, I would highly suggest getting the illustrated version *wink. The epilogue was a great way to end the story for Breaker and Lia, but also show that their love story was just getting started with even better possibilities. I’m over the moon happy with Breaker and Lia, and with each book from the Cane brothers, I’ve loved each one’s stories, but I have a feeling Breaker is my favorite out of all of them. Give this book a read! Happy reading!
