The Fates Divide
by Veronica Roth
I really liked Carve the Mark, so I was hoping I’d love this one. But I guess I’m just not too much a fan of Roth’s sequels/finales.
While this book does clarify a lot of what happened in the first book, I found the plot rather lacking. Like, it seemed like there was drama between Cyra and Akos just to have drama. And also, I didn’t care much for the ending with Akos, and his motivations () Also, I wasn’t quite sure what the point of Cici and Eijeh’s POV was. Roth seems to like adding extra (and mostly unnecessary) POVs to her final books for some reason.
Overall, I did like it, but it didn’t astound me and make me fall in love with the characters again, like I’d hoped it would.

He wanted to kill his father, which was understandable. But the way he went about it seemed stupid. If he had just touched him, like Cyra asked, and let her kill him, then a whole lot of pain and death could’ve been avoided.Spoiler
The whole thing with Isae’s instability and Ast’s motivations seemed kind of random and unnecessary. Also, Eijeh’s subplot never really seemed resolved.Overall, I did like it, but it didn’t astound me and make me fall in love with the characters again, like I’d hoped it would.
