Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly
4.0

The true historical events that make up the backbone of this novel make for an impactful reflection on the evils humans are capable of and at the same time, showcases the resilience of women who have survived the most unspeakable horrors. Regardless of which side of the ear they were on, the author has told their stories in the most unbiased way allowing the reader to remember that each person has their own motivations for how they decide to proceed with their lives. It's helps you sit back and ponder the implications of making the decision to perform unspeakable acts of horror on perfectly healthy humans, the trauma that is carried for life by the survivors and finally it has held me thinking, what more I could do for those I now know are prosecuted or are being treated as less than human in our world today.
