The writing is amazing because this is Toni Morrison. The audiobook is a joy because it is her voice, reading. However, I this is not my favorite of her books, because I find the story disjointed and the characters unbelievable. It feels like a writing exercise more than a miracle, which is how I experience some of her books (like the one that followed this one, Song of Solomon). Certainly worth reading. Our bookclub, like many, chose to read her again after her death. A master of language.
