The Imagineering Story: The Official Biography of Walt Disney Imagineering by Leslie Iwerks

informative lighthearted reflective medium-paced

It was very obviously a money grab - they used the expanded content they couldn’t fit in the docuseries to write this knowing fans wanting the expanded content would flock to it.
If I didn’t have personal incentive and interest to read this I’d save my time and just watch the show. There’s no memorable author’s voice because it’s just a string of facts and references. No bibliography or sources index, which makes it lose credibility as a research project. Certain themes got repetitive and although it was surprisingly honest about sensitive topics in the company’s history, it still had the lifelessness of corporate approved content. It also needed more edits-way too long with many typos! Overall it’s a good book for fans but lacks captivating storytelling structure and reads like if AI software was fed interview transcripts and research notes. This works much better as the docuseries on Disney+.
