I loved The Folk in the Air trilogy and to have bonus stories from the world was great! I do wish I had read it sooner as I did forget a few things that had happened in the original trilogy but I soon remembered as I read more of the short stories.

I love Cardan, even without the extra details the readers get from these short stories but now, I feel like I understand him more. How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories gives an insight into why Cardan is the way he is and how he develops with various life experiences. I love the world of Elfhame and diving back into that world was perfect!

I also have to comment on the illustrations throughout the book as they were absolutely fantastic and really added an additional element to each story told by Holly Black.
