The Closer
by C. Aimee Hyde, C. Aimee Hyde
First of all thank you C. Aimee Hyde and Sunnybabepr for my arc copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first ever sports romance and I was very excited for it and had high hopes. Unfortunately, although it was a cute book, it was just not the book for me for various reasons.
I am not a big fan of 3rd person POV so that put me off for most of the story. I had a hard time connecting with the characters in this way. And I desperately wanted to connect with them. I felt like the book felt fast paced.
The Closer is an insta-love story which is not my favorite, but it worked for them and the story. Even-though I felt there wasn't really a read foundation to their connection and relationship. That kept the characters in a constant push and pull, I was tired of it and just wanted to slap some sense into the characters.
It did have some good aspects. Like the characters and the story had communication and a very obvious healing journey + effort from the characters to make their relationship stronger and work.
I think C. Aimee Hyde did good for a debut novel and with some work future books will be amazing. It wasn't a bad book or bad writing, just not the type of story I connect with.

Yet still the pregnancy scare trope and the toxic possessiveness seemed unnecessary for me.I think C. Aimee Hyde did good for a debut novel and with some work future books will be amazing. It wasn't a bad book or bad writing, just not the type of story I connect with.
