Peanut Jones and the Illustrated City by Rob Biddulph

adventurous funny hopeful inspiring lighthearted medium-paced

5.0

My daughter is 9 and grabbed my proof copy first (thank you Panmacnews) . Read it in a week then demanded I read it as it was really cool. Also by the same guy who does Draw With Rob which they do at school and she has drawn with during lockdown.

I read it too. I enjoyed Peanut and Rockwell's strange new school buddy relationship and her home life.
Her Dad has been missing for a year, I liked that Rob popped his own life in the book as it felt right & gave the book a real warmth to it.
When Peanut finds something unexpected, the book really takes off to a new level that artists young and old will really enjoy.

I loved the nods to other artists and especially the yellow House and chair in the corner in a place called Vincent Fields. The illustrations by Rob really are magical bringing the story to life.
I couldn't wait to find out if Peanut & her gang could.... Well you'll find out when you read a copy for yourself or share it at bedtime.

A beautiful piece of art that will have you gasping for more and grabbing your pens to let your imagination and creativity go wild as this is surely what was intended.
What a fantastic story to share.

What a talented man Rob is. A superstar in my bookseller eyes since Blown Away, this is really a highlight in children's books in so many ways.
I can't wait to tell my friends how cool it is tomorrow at work.
