I was SO excited to read this book, since I read Banana Yoshimoto’s ‘Dead-end Memories’ and thoroughly enjoyed it 🥹
As Banana Yoshimoto’s debut novel, published in 1980’s Japan, it felt groundbreaking! Eriko was a delightful being ✨Her loss hit me hard too.
I’m not sure how I felt about the second story though; as lovely as it was, it didn’t resonate with me quite as well as ‘Kitchen’ did.
4 out of 5 stars for me, thank you ❤️
