Say Cheese and Die! by R.L. Stine

4.0

I loved these books as a kid, and I can absolutely see why, but it didn't have quite the same magic for me this time around. The writing struck me as so funny because it's very basic and tells more than it shows, but I can totally see the influence in all the scary stories I used to write in second and third grade.

Say Cheese and Die is exactly what it sounds like, the story of a haunted camera. I wasn't sure what to expect from Goosebumps as far as actually violence or scares, but I wasn't disappointed by the content. The book did a very compelling job of keeping me in suspense after every chapter and I couldn't wait to race to the end to find out what happened.

I highly recommend to younger readers, especially with Halloween right around the corner. I enjoyed the book enough to check out some others that I remember from the Goosebumps series, I'm especially keeping an eye out for those choose-your-own stories.
