Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

5.0

I really enjoyed this book. The ending was a bit drawn out for me, but I am looking forward to the next instalment.

Gideon the Ninth immersed me and made me laugh out loud. I loved the authors writing style and wow, did I enjoy the characters. While the world building was at times confusing or vague, I found things could be somewhat pieced together as one reads. However I do acknowledge the complexities of necromancers in this world to be the most confusing and the energy system would benefit from being explained more. I am hoping in the next book there will be more explanations of the systems and beliefs of the different Houses, and the history behind the Empire.

I haven’t enjoyed reading a series this much in a long time. While it wasn’t perfect, I didn’t want this book to end and painstakingly read it over the course of a few days. I am SO excited to read more of this world!
