This biography shocked, angered and amazed me. Eig did an incredible job depicting King as more than a hero and a symbol but also as a deeply-flawed, and emotionally-troubled man, an unfaithful husband and misogynist, an unfairly vilified and targeted individual, a largely misunderstood moral radical, and an all-around, full-fledged person. King was both a man of and ahead of his times. To read of his life, his convictions, his, at times, contradictory actions is to better understand the movement he was part of and the issues that are just as relevant today. Great book that makes me hungry to read more on the topic.
