The Analects
by Confucius
Except for random, single lines that can (and are) used as inspirational quotes on Hallmark cards, this book is rather irritating. Confucius repeats himself constantly and yet is also always changing his opinion on everything. All of his beliefs are circumstances based and thus there is no way for the average person to know what to do when a situation arises. He never actually defines "benevolence".
