I'm Glad My Mom Died
by Jennette McCurdy
emotional
funny
reflective
sad
fast-paced
Jennette McCurdy knows how to hook, line, and stinker her audience. Every chapter opens in unique, round-a-bout ways. No way is she telling you the story of her life in a stale biographical manner. She is capturing the trauma, tension, and excitement in highly creative ways that made me forget I was reading nonfiction. The ending could have used the same pomp and circumstance the rest of the book received.
Graphic: Child abuse, Cursing, Emotional abuse, Toxic relationship, Vomit, Grief, Death of parent, Alcohol
Moderate: Addiction, Alcoholism, Domestic abuse
Minor: Body shaming
