Innocent Blood by P.D. James

4.0

I was unsure about this book, because my usual genre is fantasy/scifi, but it was a gift so I gave it a chance. And it was great. I would best categorize it as a psychological thriller. The primary strength was the characterizations and writing, and how those characterizations evolve as the reader and the protagonist received revelations about the characters' pasts. However, if amoral or shades-of-grey morality characters are not for you, I would not recommend this book. Almost everyone turns out to be at least somewhat sociopathic. Which for me made a fascinating read, but I can see why that would be a turn-off for some people.
