A synesthetic snapshot of a mountain and its madness. The first chapter is written from the POV of a lightning storm, and is among the best things I have ever read. The web of characters is sparse, strong, and intricately interwoven, like the Pyerenees themselves. Mushrooms, mountains, lightning, ghosts, freedom fighters, butchers - all of the denizens are equally represented in their affect & effect on their mountain.
