With Book 2 in the series, my main reaction was "well! the book sure is booking!" and it felt like it was speeding along. Maybe it's because I took more of a break, but Book 3 feels a lot richer, especially with the Shen Jiu plotline. The
fuck and/or(?) die scene was on one hand, a moment for the reader to laugh at SQQ finally giving in to his "role", but not a moment to mock sexuality, and it's also a rich culmination of everything so far.
