Firstly, I love Niko and Bran. I was here for every single second of their love story, and I loved how different it was from every other book in the series thus far. That being said, I think the back and forth just got really tiring for me very early on.
These two are the definition of one step forward and three steps back. They're drawn together from the start and can't seem to stay away from each other, but there's also this part of themselves that can't help but self-sabotage. Bran is trying to work through his trauma and feelings of inadequacy, and Niko does everything in his power to push Bran away before he can inflict pain on him first.
But when they're together, this book is pure magic. The banter, the domesticity, the spice, and the beautiful moments of these two tearing down each other's walls. Niko may fall first, but it's only because Bran is unable to love himself at the time, and Niko is more than happy to love him enough for the both of them until he can. Once Bran finally begins to heal and work through his trauma, he realizes just how hard he's fallen, too.
Gotta be honest, though, the most beautiful part of this book was Landon and Brandon's moment in the hospital. I don't know how it happened, but that psychopath really wormed his way into my heart, and I love that they finally made up.
I love this series, and I'm so sad that it's coming to an end ðŸ˜
