The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side
by Agatha Christie
My first Miss Marple book! It's refreshing to meet an old lady detective who solves murder this way: not really involved (like wrapped up in the action) like Poirot does, but all the same deduces the solution from different accounts. This is also the first book I got from my university's library!
To be honest, I've seen a film adaptation of this so I'm anticipating the ending, and thought the solution frightfully obvious. I did appreciated how many red herrings there are, just to add some confusion to the readers (ha!)
The Tennyson proses's a nice touch to the story, and the ending echoing the last lines of the poem is brilliantly done. I don't really feel much though (perhaps because I know the ending already) but this is a nicely wrapped up mystery, simplistic when you are on the right track.
