Any book endorsed as enthusiastically by hilary mantel as this one is bound to be a winner- and i was not proven wrong here! Compelling, lively and immersive, the language, the imagery and the way in which joan seemed to simply step out of the 1400s and straight into the character of someone you know, someone you are. Breathtaking.
