I’ve read that Stephen King wrote this as an allegory to the Vietnam War. You can definitely see the themes. This was an outstanding book, with exception character development that explores the relationships men form through trauma. The ending got me for a moment, but I feel it’s meant to be subjective and leave the reader to their own conclusions.
