Unrequited love is one of my most hated tropes. This book is swimming in unspoken feelings, which made me depressed and frustrated. I liked reading Magda’s POV her way of thinking reminded me of how I see myself. She kept constantly having to bottle things up, felt invisible and as though she made no impact on her close friends. The main issues was Magda getting in her own way. And come on that happens to everyone once in a while. But being afraid of others opinions she let it get in the way, never gave things a chance and not speaking her truth.

Don’t think I don’t know how hard it must have been during the time, to come out to your friends and family. But Magda did the most not to acknowledge what was really happening with her even if it meant sacrificing her own happiness. If Sara would have gone on the trip nothing would have changed and they would have the same unhealthy relationship. But finally Magda found clarity she needed. Facing her feelings, friends and family she had avoided for so long.
