Some stories I loved, other I didn’t, but overall this was a beautiful glimpse into the simple but often touching lives of the people of turn of the century Dublin, both rich and poor, old and young. It’s not anything crazy, not romantic, it’s just realistic look into their reality, and I quite liked that. I wished I had enough knowledge to get more of the references though!
I will admit it was a bit tedious at times, especially cause I didn’t care about some of the characters, but I still think this was an enjoyable and interesting read, as well as a good intro to Joyce. Also a great insight into the Irish mind pre-independance in terms of politics, mindset etc.
