Being the Change : In the Footsteps of the Mahatma by Ashutosh Salil, Barkha Mathur

4.0

Being the Change is a collection of seven stories brilliantly knit together by authors Barkha Mathur and Ashutosh Salil. The book tells the inspiring stories of people who choose to be the change for a better tomorrow. It brings forth the social situations of the remote areas of India and how some people –away from the limelight– fight to bring a change while following the values of truth and non violence that Mahatma Gandhi once preached.

They are people who donot seek fame or validation, but work only for the betterment of those around them. They work ardently, pouring all their love and dedication to their work. They are the heroes we least speak of, seldom celebrate because their stories get lost amongst news headlines of celebrity lifestyle.

I am glad that the authors of Being The Change bring forth tales inspire me to do something for those around me, they give me the hope of a better tomorrow.

As another new year approaches, I am hopeful of people again because I know there is somebody somewhere who chose to not keep quiet; I know that there's somebody who chose to speak up.
