I had trouble connecting to this story in the beginning, specifically the main character and her not being interested in getting married. I mean, I know she's fifteen and it's somewhat reasonable she's not interested yet, but I've been a total romantic since I was about seven, so I cannot wrap my head around it whatsoever.
It did all start to grow on me as it shifted a bit to more of musing on what being in love is like, and how she would know if she was in love. The main premise is also kind of intriguing, and was handled an interesting way, balancing carefully between kindness and justice in it's take on ogrekind.
On the other hand, it's just uncomfortable and unpleasant in a lot of places. Overall, worth reading, but not nearly as charming as I remember Ella Enchanted being.
