Dr. Mütter's Marvels: A True Tale of Intrigue and Innovation at the Dawn of Modern Medicine by Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz

informative inspiring slow-paced

3.0

thomas dent mütter, and the museum which bears his name, is not a new subject to me, but some of the medical innovations in this book are. the story presented here is endlessly engaging, but is much more of a story than it is history, from the way it is told to the way it is researched. the interspersion of primary sources and photographs adds some texture, but i can't help but think how this book would have been improved if it mentioned mütter's museum as his most concrete legacy in more than passing.
