The Grimrose Girls
by Laura Pohl
3.5 stars
I liked this book to an extent. When I read the short blurb on Amazon that said it’s like Pretty Little Liars meets Once Upon a Time, I was expecting there to be more magical elements to the storyline, but there was barely any there. So I was really disappointed in the magical aspect of the book, I just wanted more of that. I did feel like there were too many side characters that just randomly showed up in scenes just to say whatever corny shit to the main characters. There definitely could’ve been more editing, not just because of the grammatical errors, but there were some filler scenes that just needed to be taken out. I did really like the plot line and the use of the Grimm fairy tales in the book. I thought it was fun trying to figure out which stories the characters belonged to. At the end of the book, I had already known who the murderer was, but I did not expect that twist at all. Overall, this was a quick and easy book to read that kept me entertained the entire time! I do hope the next book in the duology is better than this one.
