Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
4.0
I watched the tv show up to the end of season 5 and waited about a year beyond that before finally looking for an Outlander book at my library. The audiobook for book 1 alone is 32:43 min, so it took at least two times waiting in a virtual queue and having 2 weeks to finish it. Honestly, it’s so close to what I remember from season 1 of the tv show. I know a bit more happens in the book, but the tv show is really close to the book compared to most book-to-film attempts made. Now that I’ve read the book, I’m actually quite stunned how well the tv show ultimately portrays the events and characters established in book 1 of Outlander. I’m really not sure I’ll keep reading the other books in the series. The book is definitely good, but it dragged a little bit for me in some spots, and like the tv show, the amount of smut is a little on the heavy side in my opinion. Still, I’m glad I gave book 1 a go just to say I did. I may end up just rewatching the show though (admittedly it would take less time) if I want to revisit this “universe.”
