I loved the first book in the series, and this was just as fun. The humour in these books is something that I really enjoy, especially that of the Villain. While he is a scary and deadly villain, he turns into an adorable puppy when faced with Evie, and I just can’t get enough.

I remember finding Evie very annoying in the first book, but I didn’t get those feelings here, thank god. I love seeing how spending time with the Villain has changed her, and also vice versa. I liked seeing Evie stand up for herself, especially in relation to her father, and start to actually do things for herself without worrying about other people.

We get the perspective of more characters this time, and I really loved learning more about Becky, the HR manager. Her backstory was so interesting, and how it ties to Evie. The two characters are very similar, and I liked seeing their relationship develop as well.

Evie & the Villain’s relationship once again had me kicking my feet. They are so down bad for one another, and every time they got close, my heart just sped up. The Villain is still one of my all-time favorite MMCs.

The only issue I had was that I felt quite underwhelmed by the reveal of an important character to Evie. It just kind of happened, and we didn’t see the lead-up or the discovery, so it didn’t really feel that impactful. I love how fun this series is, and I can’t wait to read the next book.
