Synopsis: This the graphic novel adaptation of the classic novel by Raymond Bradbury, “Fahrenheit 451.”
In the near future, everyone is happy & entertained at all times. Leisure & enjoyment are what is most important in life. Montag is a fireman. But firemen here don’t put out fires, rather, they burn books & the homes of those who have books in their possession. The people who are found to be hiding books are obviously insane so they are arrested & institutionalized.
One day Montag meets an odd young lady who causes him to start doubting his own happiness and curiosity gets the better of him. He begins stealing a book here & there. He can’t let anyone know he has them or his & his wife’s lives are over.
Review: I read “Fahrenheit 451” in high school 30ish years ago. It was one of the few books I finished & liked. Over the years I have thought about the book a lot. I wanted to reread it this year. When I found out there was a graphic novel adaptation, I had to get it.
I really enjoyed reading this book in a different format. I still want to get my own copy of the actual novel & reread it to compare with a fresher memory.
“Fahrenheit 451” is not exactly an entertaining or enjoyable story but it is one that should be read by everyone. The message & impact is so important & no less so in our society today.
