A really good children's/middle grade book that explores the myth that if you just work harder, you'll rise higher in station. Nicholson was tackling the idea of standardized testing here too, and I think he brings up some interesting points through his story. I read this when I was younger, and I really enjoyed the entire trilogy, so I'm excited to re-read them now and see what more I pick up.
