The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson
5.0
My god what a book. And what a character Lisbeth Salander is. It makes me so sad that not only will we not get any more fantastic novels from Stieg Larsson, but that he never got to see his own success from this series of books.
On finishing the second instalment of the Millennium trilogy I fully intended to read a different book, or even a couple of different books, as I did after reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but then The Girl Who Played With Fire ends on such a cliffhanger that I had to start The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest straight away.
I’m not going to give any spoilers away, but if anyone out there like me thought that because they’d seen the movies they didn’t need to read these books, or anyone who thought they had waited too long to read them, I urge you to re-consider.
These books have been crafted with such care, the story is so compelling, and the characters so complex and utterly relatable, even down to the secondary characters, that they really are a must read.
I can’t believe I waited this long to get to know Lisbeth, and now I can’t wait to read what happens to her (even though I do technically know what happens because I saw the Swedish movies).
