This book was by far my favorite of the trilogy. I loved the part when Cardan pulls Jude aside when she returns as Taryn and he asks her about the letters. Also, hearing about how he went to Vivi's mortal apartment in search of her after Madoc took her was fun. Cardan was so sassy in this book, I loved it. Chapter 21 was so unexpected but so satisfying. The whole serpent plot was so stressful and when Jude slays the serpent I was so shocked, but I'm so glad it all worked out. Jude's relationship with Madic is probably one of the interesting subplots in this entire trilogy. That scene where Madoc almost kills Juse and then practically begs for her to get help really did something to me. That and the final scene in which she grants him mercy, or something like that.

Although I am wearing the cloak Mother Marrow made me, the one that will turn any blade, I still promise to run, tail between my legs. And since I have a tail, that should be amusing for everyone. Are you satisfied?

“Mock me all you like. Whatever I imagined then, now it is I who would beg and grovel for a kind word from your lips.” His eyes are black with desire. “By you, I am forever undone.”
