Y: The Last Man, Vol. 1: Unmanned by Brian K. Vaughan
4.0

SpoilerThis highly acclaimed (by critics and my friends whose opinions matter even more) series is so far living up to its hype. At first I was a little put off by the artwork. It's almost too perfect, everyone is a little too pretty. The story unfolds unchronologically, in many different places all over the world. A young man is talking on the phone while his pet monkey is running rampant and the next thing is that every single male on the planet has died (I must point out that the back says everything with a "Y" chromosome, clearly ignoring birds and such with the ZW sex determination system where the male is the one with two same chromosomes ZZ/end nerdy bird-info). It follows his mom as a rep in DC, Israeli soldiers who are already starting to come off as power-hungry in a post apocalyptic world, Amazons who would kill off any remaining men (part of me says this is silly and kinda misogynist, the other part of me is all HAHA YAY KILL ALL THE MEN :D) and a scientist who "cloned" herself and thinks she caused the whole thing. I don't get what she means by cloned though, as she had a male child. Maybe I am thinking about the science too much. Someone also ripped out six page from the library book I was reading. They suck. Probably a guy. Hahaha. I KID. I wonder what the rest of the series has in store.
