Come Closer by Sara Gran

2.0

Really baffled by the 4 and 5 stars on this. The story was terribly written with no introduction to Amanda and Ed as characters so I didn’t care about either of them or their awful marriage. Tons of plot holes throughout, and the most basic descriptions when it came to portraying events that should’ve been creepy and climatic. I read this at night and went on to have a wonderful, refreshing sleep afterwards if you need proof of how not-scary this was (I mean, the demon loved online shopping if you need an idea of the kind of entity being dealt with here).

The homophobic slurs on the literal first and second page were super random and did nothing for the storyline, and pretty much any nonwhite character mentioned was a “bad” person….it was just all so strange and a hot mess.
