I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo

The Anatomical Shape of a Heart meets To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before in this heartwarming and relatable contemporary. I really enjoyed this book because Desi was so relatable. Everything she was feeling was something I had felt before and I loved how we got to see Luca and Desi’s friendship then relationship grow throughout the entire book. Desi’s relationship with her father was beautiful. There were a few reasons I couldn’t give this story a full 5 stars. The first was Luca needed more character development. I realize the focus was in Desi and her journey but as a significant character I would’ve liked to see I little more explanation to his action and reactions. I also wasn’t satisfied with the resolution to him and Desi’s argument towards the end. It was a little dramatic which was most likely meant for the story ( since Desi loves K dramas ) but it felt like a stretch for me. Lastly, being as though Desi is so relatable she made one decision that I would never have made so it seemed a little unbelievable. Overall, I did love this story and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a heartwarming contemporary with very good representation.
