After reading the first volume, I figured I’d try the second volume of Spy x Family to get a quick dose of something happy and simple. While it did the job, I didn’t find this set as interesting as the first. A few missions/chapters felt unnecessary to the overall plot (I assume these were supposed to be “fun” episodes for the anime). The pressure put on Anya took me out of the fun and comedic atmosphere because I worried for her. Yor/Thorn Princess provided most of the comic relief due to her growing bond with Anya and protectiveness. It seems like we’ll be learning more about her and her past in the next volume. I’ll still probably continue this series, just because it’s an easy read when I need something light.
