aljosa 's review for:
The Sense of an Ending
by Julian Barnes
After two readings I'll try to write a review. So... My initial reaction after the first reading was "Whoa." because I didn't know what to write. This book blew my mind. It was funny, philosophical and smart. There were so many memorable lines.
This is a book about the exploration and the questioning of the memory. Did everything happen just the way we remember it or did we simply "forgot" some parts of it so that we wouldn't feel bad? Do we regret some of the stuff we did? We can never know the full extent of consequences in the present.
At the same time "The Sense of an Ending" works both as a coming-of-age story and a memoir.
I'm glad this was my first Barnes book because this was a great read. In fact, so great that I've read it twice within 10 days.
2nd read: June 27-28
