This is the second standalone in the same universe as In the Wake of the Wicked, and it was just as good. You don't need to read that one to enjoy this book, but you should because they're both really good.
@vblacey.books knows how to write romantic tension. The tension between the two MCs was delicious and swoon-worthy.
The other fantastic part of this book is the depth and writing of the main character, Clarissa. It is so easy to feel seen with this character. Strength is not just one thing. There are so many ways to be strong. And showing emotions doesn't make you weak.
Add in all the fun Princess Diaries 2 Easter eggs, and this was such an enjoyable read.
