can somebody please tell me why so many (if not all) of Kristen Ashely's book have the most hideous covers sullying the beautiful work inside? I mean, obviously I'm not one to judge covers since I read all her books but honestly, why is it always romance books with the worst covers?
I have read quite a few of KA books now and I can say I have yet to be disappointed, with her Colorado Mountain series my favourite romance series, this book has pushed the Dream Man series to a close second. Law Man has such a wide range of hilariously vivid characters that create a community that runs throughout this entire series.
This book followed Mara Hanover who fell in love with her hot detective neighbour at first sight, and promptly ignored and avoided him for the following two years. After they are brought together when Mara takes custody of her cousin's children, and Mitch begins to try and force Mara to let him into her life and help her fight her psycho family.
The books follows the often frustratingly obliviousness that is Mara and the way Mitch tries to force Mara out of her head long enough to realise how good her reality has become. Their story holds the typical amount of KA drama and angst and I devoured this book in a heart beat, not even the knowledge that I would be a dead woman walking the next day at work could force me to put it down.
The only complaint I have is just how frustrating Mara could be, at times I honestly questioned her intelligence levels because it was completely impossible for anyone to be that oblivious for so long, especially when reality was being showed in their face. But if you can battle through an occasionally pulling-your-own-hair-out-by-the-roots kind of annoying character, this will not let you down.
The end was extremely stratifying, the romance (and ensuring steamy scenes) were glorious and the entire book was a nice addition to my favourite romance pile.
