I enjoyed the first book in the series, but this one grabbed me faster and sucked me in!
Jaron is one of those characters that makes me want to shake him one moment, and protect him the next. (Not that he needed much protecting.) There were a couple of elements that felt slightly unrealistic in the plot, but nothing that bothered me too much. This time, I'm happy to say I did not figure out any major plot twists in advance. The story, like Jaron, kept me on my toes!

Side note: I did find it sad how often characters referred to "the devils" in a way that made it sound like these evil creatures were the only higher power that existed. What a dismal thing to believe. ☹️
