It was a short romance with a dash of coming of age. Spencer was really attaching. I loved following his journey and learning to trust himself. There was also lots of friendship, which is something that is so often overlooked in romance. That made the story so much more interesting. There is some homophobia and transphobia, which might make it harder to read. Overall, the story was sweet though. It felt like Heartstopper or Simon Vs the Homosapien Agenda, there was important topics discussed but the book still feels like a hug. Finally, if you want a quick read to get out of a reading slump or just to feel a bit better about life, you should check this book out.
