The Inmate by Freida McFadden

dark tense fast-paced

3.5/5 Stars

Did I love some parts? Yes. Did I hate some parts? Yes.

This was a very fast paced & easy read, which I love. I honestly just think I expected more because of how popular this author is. This is my first Freida McFadden book & I am left feeling underwhelmed.

My biggest issues: the main character is so freakin dumb & unlikeable & as a mother I cannot believe she is so careless about letting people in & out of her life. There were also parts of the book that were too predictable.

I loved all of the chapters from “Eleven Years Earlier”. I also liked the constant back & forth of “who did it”.

The epilogue was the best chapter of the whole book.

Overall it just didn’t have that shock factor that I crave with thrillers. Will I try another Freida book? Potentially. However, it’s not top of my list as of now.
