The Studying Hours
by Sara Ney
4 stars
This book was so. much. fun.
I LOVED James and her snark and sass. She was the perfect foil to Oz's over-inflated ego. The whole douchebag scenario isn't usually my thing, but Sara Ney did a great job at making Oz a likeable character.
Oz is on the Iowa wrestling team, and he is one of the top collegiate wrestlers in the country. In the library while studying, Oz's teammates dare him to get a kiss from a "goody two-shoes preppy girl" sitting across the hall from them. Oz takes them up on it, but he has no idea what he is getting in to when he approaches James to make good on the dare.
I love the character of James, and how strong of a woman she is. She is independent and she knows what she wants. However, she is not one of those ultra super feminist, I-don't-need-no-man types. Oz is the perfect, perverted douchebag, but James calls him out on it. I am a sucker for the bad boy goes soft trope, and this is definitely that trope.
Oz's and James's relationship is a lot of fun to watch grow. They have their ups and downs like every other character, but their developing relationship is great. This book has definitely moved to the top and has become one of my favorite NA romances.
