Dancing Shoes by Noel Streatfeild
4.0
One of the books I read over and over as a kid. Begins with tragedy — two sisters have lost their parents in freak accidents — then shifts to uncertainty when they go to live with their aunt and uncle. The aunt runs a dancing school and is not a villain, but is not a very sympathetic person either. Fortunately for Rachel and Hilary there are other, kinder folks around them and they always support each other.
Full of dancing and theater performance, and good advice, this remains a solid comfort read.
