The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

adventurous dark emotional funny hopeful informative inspiring reflective sad tense fast-paced

4.5

I’ve seen Persepolis in film school and it’s an incredible film. The graphic novel is just as incredible. Like this is not a case where the film/book is better bc both are equally yoked. This is the story of Marjane’s upbringing during the Iranian Revolution and navigating the changed society and culture afterwards. Although it was obvi a very traumatic event, Marjane managed to balance it with humor. I mean you know they say the most traumatized people tend to be the funniest so 🤷🏾‍♀️.

Anyways I love this book down and also learned a little bit about the impact of Israel and Palestine on Iran which we see today
